GE adds non-trucking markets as customers for its Storage trailers LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - March 1, 2010 - With the trucking industry still in difficult times, GE's Trailer Fleet Services business is reaching out successfully to attract new customers in non-traditional channels for its Storage Trailers. GE revealed the new marketing effort during the annual Truckload Carriers Association meeting here. "A typical trailer has about 475 square feet of storage space, and for a fraction of the cost of similar space at a fixed warehouse," said GE Commercial leader Brent Russell. "We're finding that this is a compelling reason for many businesses to consider storage trailers." With its national network of locations and availability of delivery services, GE is reaching out to a variety of markets including in agriculture, racetracks, hotels, schools, construction and even the pine straw industry in the southeast. "Of course many of these customers first need a bit of education on the benefits of a semi-trailer for their application," Russell noted, "and our newly-expanded website and our national sales team are working to provide market-specific details for their consideration. GE's Trailer unit is drawing from a strong experience in this area, having operated a successful stand-alone business in the late 90s, TIP National Trailer Storage.
